Skyfall Winter Wheat

Three fields around you are being used to grow the Skyfall variety of winter wheat, used primarily for bread-making. This variety is highly favoured for its disease resistance, strong straw and overall consistency within the crop. It’s a staple across the farm.

The fields will be ploughed in late summer/early autumn and then seeded in September-October.

Wheat will grow through the winter into the spring. It stops growing, turning golden by July-August, by which time it is ready to harvest.
