Jubilee Celebrations get underway in extended Greensand Country Festival
Local people and families have, once again, experienced many exciting events and activities throughout May, as part of the Greensand Country Festival, with partner organisations looking forward to a fun-filled extension to the festival line-up, in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
This bank holiday weekend (2 – 5 June), events will take place across the landscape to mark the Jubilee, including:
- A puppet storytelling show in Potton
- A Platinum Jubilee Concert in Sandy
- Weekend Celebrations in Leighton-Linslade
- A light show in Flitwick
- Afternoon Tea in Flitwick
- Flying Day Picnic at Warden Abbey Vineyard
The festival, which has been hosted by the Greensand Country Landscape Partnership since 2018, aims to promote a wide range of events taking place across the local area, encouraging people to discover more of Greensand Country and its beautiful parks, woodlands, heritage sites, attractions and much more.
Greensand Country, Programme Support Officer, Stephanie Kitchiner explains:
“We have enjoyed lots of exciting events, so far, as part of our annual festival, from walking, horse-riding and map awareness sessions to history, geology and youth ranger activities, right through to health and wellbeing events, there really has been something for everyone to enjoy.
“The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee has presented us with a fantastic opportunity to extend this year’s festival programme and we can’t wait for the local community celebrations, taking place this weekend. We wish you all a wonderful bank holiday and an enjoyable finale to the Greensand Country Festival 2022.”
