What was happening to Bedfordshire Estates Before, During and After WWI

Many Bedfordshire Estates were often owned by the same family for 100s of years.  The agricultural depression at the end of the 19^th century had an big impact with farm output down 30%. Then the WW1 followed.  Many estates lost their owners, sons and staff during the war.  After the war 25% of the land in Britain changed hands including a huge number in Bedfordshire. Why did some, such as Luton Hoo survive?
