Nature Walk for Women

Tuesday 20th December 2022 10:00 - 12:00

Join us for a women-only guided nature walk at The Lodge, taking in seasonal sights and sounds. The walk will be led by some of our female RSPB volunteers, who will share their knowledge and enthusiasm for nature.

December’s walk will have a focus on berries and seeds found, providing vital food for our winter birds and small mammals!

This is an adult-only walk. Sensible clothing and appropriate footwear are a must. Please bring binoculars if you have them (they can be rented from the shop).

The walk is over uneven terrain and is not suitable for wheelchair users unfortunately. If you have mobility or sensory issues, please contact us before purchasing a ticket.

Tickets are just £3 each.

Please meet in the picnic area.

The ticket does not include parking (£6 all day for non-members, members park for free).

Walks will be monthly on either the third Tuesday or third Saturday, alternating each month.

Upcoming dates:

Tuesday 20 December 10am

Saturday 21 January 2023 10am

Tuesday 21 February 2023 10am

Saturday 18 March 2023 10am

Why Women-Only?

Many women in the UK have sadly experienced harassment at some point in their lives. We know that going out alone into the countryside is something that many women don’t feel safe to do. As a way of supporting women to both feel and be as safe as possible on our nature reserves, we are putting on some events that are exclusively for them. These events won’t be to everyone’s taste, but hope it will allow those, who might not otherwise feel safe, to experience nature in a friendly and safe space, removing some barriers in the process.

We hope to develop these walks based on the feedback received by attendees so that more women may feel welcome.
