Join us for the first in our spring and summer walk programme along the Greensand Ridge Walk. 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of Bedfordshire’s premier walking route, and to celebrate this we have a programme of walks along the Greensand Ridge from May to September. Distances vary from 3-9 miles per walk, and it’s a great way to discover the walk if you haven’t walked it before, or a different way to enjoy it if you’re familiar with the route.
The first walk will be a 6.5 mile guided walk, starting at the route’s beginning in Leighton Buzzard, following the Grand Union Canal, and then exploring Rushmere Country Park, including Kings Wood National Nature Reserve.
Parking available at Rushmere Country Park, from there we will get coach transport to the walk’s start in Leighton Buzzard. The guided walk will then head back along the route finishing back at Rushmere. Coach transport included in the ticket price.
More information:
- Due to the restrictions of coach travel, dogs are not permitted.
- Parking is not included in the ticket, and is charged at the usual rates. More information available here.
- The walks will only be able to go ahead if enough tickets are sold to cover the cost of the transportation. Should we not sell sufficient tickets to cover the costs, we will have to cancel the event. Should this happen, tickets will be refunded.
- If the walks do go ahead, tickets are only refundable if there is someone on the waiting list able to take your place.
- The walk will go through typical Greensand Country landscapes, hence toilets will be few and far between.
- Under 18s welcome if accompanied by an adult.
