Greensand Ridge Walk: Clophill’s Ancient Roots Circular Walk (3 miles)
Sunday 31st May 2026 10:00 - 12:00
Join us for a short ramble around Clophill Lakes Nature Reserve and Clophill village. 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of Bedfordshire’s premier walking route, and to celebrate this we have a programme of walks along the Greensand Ridge from May to September. Distances vary from 3-9 miles per walk, and its a great way to discover the walk if you haven’t walked it before, or a different way to enjoy it if you’re familiar with the route.
This walk will be a 3 mile guided walk, starting and finishing at Clophill Lakes. We will explore Cainhoe Castle, discover the new boardwalk between the Lakes, and then head into Clophill village along the Greensand Ridge Walk to the old church of St Marys. We will stop there before heading back to Clophill Lakes.
The pace on this walk will be gentle, with frequent stops. Mostly flat with a few slight hills. Unfortunately this route isn’t suitable for wheelchairs or buggies.
The walk will go through the reserve, out to Clophill village, and along a section of the Greensand Ridge Walk before finishing back at Clophill Lakes.
Parking is available at Clophill Lakes Nature Reserve, charged at the usual rates. For more information about parking, please click here.
More information:
- Dogs are welcome on a short lead, providing they are able to walk the distance.
