In landlocked Bedfordshire, it is hard to conceive that the owner of Wrest Park played such an important part in the history of British sailing. Yet Thomas, Earl de Grey, had a house at Cowes, a succession of seagoing yachts, and chaired the first meeting of the Royal Yacht Squadron. The talk covers much unpublished research into his fascinating and unexpected story.
