GCLP Presents ‘The Greensand Country Creative Writing Competition – A Sense of Place’ – Deadline 14th May, 2021

As part of the Greensand Festival, GCLP launches ‘The Greensand Country Creative Writing Competition’, and we’d love you to be a part of it!
Following the great success of the Creative Writing workshops for children, young people and Adults lead in March 2021 by Dr Tim Jarvis and Daisy Henwood, this competition will become an annual event to uncover the stories of Greensand Country.
The competition is open to all and the theme for 2021 is “A Sense of Place”. We ask you use this theme and the landscape, features and landmarks found within Greensand Country as your inspiration.
Entries can be fiction, non-fiction or prose. Please choose one genre of writing per entry.
There are three age categories
Children (8-12 year olds)
Young People (13-17 year olds)
For children and Young People, the word limit is 500 words. For adults the word limit is 1000 words
The deadline for submission is 5pm, Friday 14th May, 2021
The Winners and Runners Up in each category will have their work published on the Greensand Country website. In addition, Winners and Runners Up will win the following prizes kindly donated by local Charter Members.
Children (8-12 year olds) Winner – £25 of Shuttleworth vouchers (which can either be used towards admission tickets or in the shop)
Children (8-12 year olds) Runner Up – Goody bag from Jordan’s Mill
Young People (13-17 year olds) – £25 of Shuttleworth vouchers (which can either be used towards admission tickets or in the shop)
Young People (13-17 year olds) – £5 voucher from Jordan’s Mill
Adults (18+) Winner – A Tour of the Warden Abbey Vineyard
Adults (18+) Runner Up – A Cream tea for two at Ridgmont Station Tea Room
